In this Torah Project teaching, we closely compare and contrast the two brothers Judah and Joseph, finding in them pictures of the “outer” and the “inner” person, the seen and the unseen. As we explore in this way, we gain understandings into the human condition since we are each composed of physical and spiritual elements. As is our habit, we also make applications to the Messiah, seeing important parallels to Yeshua’s first and second comings with a little help from the 18th century Jewish sage known as the Vilna Gaon.
